Since its initial release, the series has gained significant popularity on the internet, cultivating a dedicated fanbase. According to the official website, the series is “not recommended for small children.” Despite the seemingly adorable nature of its characters, the content is notably violent, with nearly every episode showcasing blood, gore, and graphic fatalities, leading to its removal from broadcast in Russia. While the violence depicted is reminiscent of “The Itchy & Scratchy Show” from “The Simpsons,” the representation of death in Happy Tree Friends is more explicit and anatomically accurate, illustrating bloodshed and dismemberment in a more pronounced and exaggerated manner.
